SWEPT-source-OCT provides significant improvement comparing to conventional OCT. Due to the improved scan light of wide wave length (1050nm), there is better penetration at the deeper eye layers. Even more, this scan light penetrates better through cataract, bleeding, blood vessels and sclera.
The highest scan speed in the world is 100000 A-scans/second. It is almost the double than the highest scan speed, comparing to Topcon SD OCT, that will bring more scans for a B-scan image and a nore clear image that emphasizes the effectiveness and quality of diagnosis.
The high penetration of the light from the Swept source can easily and clearly illustrate deep eye layers, such as the chorioid and the sclera. Another advantage of the Swept source is that it can clearly illustrate the vitreous as well as the chorioid in a single scan that is uniformly clear without intervals. This erases the need of time-wasting vitreous/chorioid scans.
In a single image both the vitreous and the chorioid reveal in a crystalline way. The Topcon DRI-OCT strengthens the illustration of the exterior structures of the retina and the deep pathological findings. The Topcon DRI-OCT Triton automatically detects 7 layers including the one of the sclerachorioid boundary. The B-Scan 12mm covers the area of the macula as well as the optic disc.
The invisible wave length 1050nm does not abstract the concentration of the patient. Patients don't see the scan line, that is an advantage for old patients and kids. Reduce in moving objests and increased repetability.
